Posts

Posts are dated articles for your blog or news feed. They live under your blog prefix, get listed on the blog index (paginated), can be organized with categories and tags, and optionally appear pinned to the top. This page covers the fields you’ll see in the post editor and what each does on the published site.

The basics

  • Title and Slug: the slug (required) becomes the post’s URL, like /blog/my-post-title/.
  • Language: each post belongs to one language from your Active Languages; the blog listing and index are per-language.
  • Body: a rich-text editor; embed blocks anywhere with {{block:name}}.

Excerpt

The Excerpt is an optional teaser shown for the post on the blog index. Leave it blank and Chinaski auto-generates a teaser from the body. If your theme exposes the excerpt directly, it’s the author-supplied text only; templates never get the auto-filled version injected.

Manual excerpts don’t just help layout; they also feed the built-in search snippets.

Author and category

  • Author: plain text shown on the published post. The editor suggests authors as you type.
  • Category: optional. When set, Chinaski generates a category archive page at /blog/category/<slug>/. Pick an existing name from the suggestion list, or type a new one to create a category as you publish.

Publish date and scheduling

  • Published date: the date shown on the post. If you leave it off, first publish sets it for you.
  • Schedule publish: set a future date/time and the post goes live automatically, interpreted in the site’s timezone.
  • Recurring: set None, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly and the post republishes on that interval after going live.
  • Sticky: pin the post to the top of the blog index regardless of date; stickies take the first spots, and the rest sort by publish (or update) date.

Tags

Tags are comma-separated keywords displayed on the published post. They aren’t categories: a category groups posts into dedicated archive pages; tags ride along on the post for readers to see.

Unpublishing and passwords

  • Untick the published state (or use the trash) to pull a post from the site; it disappears at the next build.
  • A password-protected post is served as gated HTML: visitors must type the right password in their browser to show it. Protected posts are excluded from the sitemap listing and public lists.

The post editor also carries the SEO and share fields: meta title and description, canonical URL, Open Graph title/description/image, featured image and alt text, and a schema type. These feed head tags per the Open Graph documentation.

Where posts live

  • Blog index: per language, with pagination based on the posts-per-page setting (1–100, default 10). The index title can be customized per language, per site, or defaults from the URL prefix, falling back to “Blog”.
  • Per-post URLs: under the blog URL prefix (default blog), optionally overridden per language. Changing the prefix re-creates automatic redirects from the old paths.
  • Category pages: /blog/category/<slug>/ per category.
  • RSS feed: a feed is built when a language has at least one published post.

A note on pinned listings

The sticky mechanism is also honored on listing pages for regular pages (the builder sorts pinned content to the top of listings there too). If you pin a post and don’t see it pinned after the rebuild, verify that the published post is actually inside its schedule window and that the post is in the language you’re browsing on the site.
